WHAT ARE THE COOKIES?

Cookies and other similar technologies –such as local shared objects, flash cookies or pixels– are tools used by web servers in order to store and recover information about their users over time, as well as to offer a proper functioning of the web site.

By using these devices, the web server is allowed to remember some information concerning users, such as their preferences about the visualization of the server’s sites, user name and password, products or services the user is more interested in, etc.

According to the EU Directive, cookies that require the user’s informed consent are analytics, advertisement and affiliation ones. WHAT KINDS OF COOKIES ARE THERE?

Regarding the types of cookies, there are five big groups:

  • Analytics cookies: they gather information about how users interact with our website.
  • Third-party cookies: cookies necessary to access content from external providers – social networks.
  • Member cookies: they allow keeping track of those visits coming from other web sites; there is a partnership agreement between both web sites (company affiliation).
  • Behavioral and advertising cookies: they gather information about the user’s personal preferences and elections (retargeting).
  • Operational and technical cookies: they are strictly necessary for the functioning of the web site and for delivering the service engaged.

COOKIES USED IN THIS WEB SITE

    • PHPSESSID: first-party session cookie, deleted after you quit your browser. Strictly necessary technical cookie that identifies your session.
    • cookie_notice_accepted: strictly necessary technical cookie that contains the value of whether the cookies installation has been accepted. It expires after one year from the last update.

    • _ga: it is a Google Analytics cookie which enables single visits’ control function. This cookie will be installed the first time a user accesses this web site through a browser. Whenever a user re-accesses the web site through the same browser, this cookie will consider him or her as the same user. Just in the case where the user changes browser, he or she will be considered as a different user. It expires after two years from the last update.

    • _gat: this cookie is linked to Google Analytics. It is used to limit the speed of request – the limitation on the collection of data on High Traffic Sites. It expires after 10 minutes.
    • _gid: this cookie is linked to Google Analytics. It is used to distinguish users. It expires after 24 hours.

    • wordpress_test_cookie: technical cookie used by WordPress to find out if your browser can accept cookies. It expires once the session is over.
    • wp-settings-*: technical cookie used by WordPress to store users’ preferences. It expires one year after the last update.
    • wp-settings-time-*: technical cookie used by WordPress to save session data. It expires one year after the last update.
    • wordpress_logged_in_{hash}: technical cookie used by WordPress to manage the user’s process of authentification. It expires once the session is over.

WITHDRAWAL OF THE CONSENT TO INSTALL COOKIES/ REMOVING COOKIES FROM YOUR DEVICE

Chrome

  1. Select the tools icon
  2. Click settings.
  3. Click Show Advanced Options.
  4. On the section “Privacy” click on Content Settings.
    • Delete cookies: click on all cookies and website data…
    • Do not allow storing cookies.
  5. Click Delete browsing data (clearing the cache).
  6. Close and restart the browser.

Internet Explorer

  1. Select Tools | Internet Options.
  2. Click General tab.
  3. In the Browsing history section, click Delete browsing history when exiting.
  4. Select Delete files.
  5. Select Delete cookies.
  6. Click Delete.
  7. Click Accept.
  8. Close and restart the browser.

  1. Select Firefox | History | Clear recent history.
  2. Next to “Details”, click on the down arrow.
  3. Select the following check boxes: Cookies, Cache, active logins.
  4. By using “Time interval to delete” on the drop-down menu, click All.
  5. Click on Delete now.
  6. Close and restart the browser.

  1. Select the Safari icon / Edit | Reset Safari.
